Position Title: Mechanical Engineering Technologist (Drafting)
Position Reports To: Engineering Manager
Department: Engineering
Description:
Develop and prepare designs, sketches, drawings, plans, diagrams or layouts from concept to shop detailed manufacturing drawings. Maintain and organize drawings. Maintain an engineering and project management system.

Experience in operating AutoCAD and another 3D Cad software program
5 years of related experience
Basic computer skills in MS Office
Ability to pay close attention to detail
Post secondary training in CAD/CAM Engineering Technology or related diploma
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Responsibilities will include:
Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings form preliminary concepts.
Ability to use AutoCAD to prepare CNC files for further processing-
Ability to model designs in 3D -
Complete as-built drawings for work being completed at facility -
Liaise with shop personnel to ensure information contained on construction drawings is clearly understood. -
Work with customers to detail their design requirements -
Work independently on design concepts with direction from project team. -
Deal with sub vendors regarding ongoing projects -
Project manage builds and take responsibility for all aspects of said builds

Position Title: Shop Foreman
Position Reports To: Operations Manager
Department: Fabrication
Description:
Plan, organize, schedule and supervisor welding activities to meet production schedules and provide a quality product to customers.

Certified Journeyman with experience in related equipment
1-3 years lead hand or supervisory experience
Supervisory and Safety Leadership courses are desired
Self-directed with the ability to encourage and support a high performing team
Demonstrated commitment to quality and safety
Demonstrates effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Basic computer skills

Responsibilities will include:
Liaise with customers, sales and operations staff to determine production needs and scheduling priorities, including reviewing and coordinating drawing changes
Recruit and supervise lead hands, welders, labourers, and shipping and receiving staff including establishing work plans and schedules, assigning responsibilities, approving time sheets and ensuring performance expectations and standards are known and met-
Provide direction and support to contractors as required and raise significant performance issues to management -
Maintain positive employee, management and customer relations
Required qualifications include:

Administer OH&S regulations including conducting safety inspections, leading monthly safety meetings and ensure staff follow proper safety procedures

Coordinate the service maintenance and repair of equipment and track maintenance schedules and repairs

Conduct weekly production meetings with production staff

Provide back-up support to shipping/receiving

Mechanical Engineer
Dahlson has an excellent career opportunity for a self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to join a high performance team that is advancing in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.

Holds a current APEGGA professional engineering designation.
Have at least 5 years of related field experience with a preferred base in the Oil and Gas industry.
Relevant knowledge would be in designing process equipment / piping packages, as well as design of static & dynamically loaded steel structures.
Familiarity with the relevant industry codes and standards; ASME, ANSI, API, CSA.Sound 3D CAD modeling skills and design transfer to 2D manufacturing drawings, either in Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks
LEAN experience in a job-shop environment would be an asset
A team player with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude. Innovative aptitude, creativity blended with diligence for execution.
Exceptional problem solving skills to understand the details and complexities of the issues, while still managing the overall results effectively.
Ability to manage projects and work efficiently on multiple projects concurrently in various stages and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities will include:
Provide design and process guidance for projects in such a way as to optimize production and reduce costs using Lean principles. Ensure design integrity and absolute compliance with company policy, engineering procedures, industry codes and standards.
Be able to work effectively within the Engineering & Design team in executing design objectives.-
Impact and drive projects using project management planning tools. Be able to deal with dynamic project adjustments and plan to minimize negative impacts while effectively managing client’s expectations. -
Achieve project deliverables from inception to completion in safety, cost, schedule, and quality.
Required qualifications include:
Interface with manufacturing / shop floor and Supply Chain to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacture completion.
Be comfortable in operating within a high performance team environment, and as such, provide peer coaching and training as appropriate to build Dahlson’s overall capability.

Journeymen Welders/ B-Pressure Welders
Successful candidate(s) will be responsible
for the following:

Oxy-acetylene cutting, Arc welding and MIG welding -
Understanding welding process specifications -
The ability to work flexible hours with possible overtime -
Some blue print reading an asset -
A minimum of 1 year experience working as a welder/journeyman -
Ability to work as a team player as well as independently -
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills -
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills -
The ability to work well under pressure

Required qualifications include:

Study engineering drawings and blueprints, determine the materials required, and plan the sequence of tasks -
Lay out reference points and patterns on heavy metal according to component specifications - Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite

Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units using TAC welding -
Install fabricated components in final product -
Some MIG welding may be required depending on experience -
A minimum of 3 years experience working as a fabricator and/or fitter -
Ability to work as a team player as well as independently -
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills -
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills -
The ability to work well under pressure
